Omnidirectional video capture

Omnidirectional video capture is a fairly well studied topic, and commercial products are available even at affordable price level. However, these solutions are usually not well adapted for broadcast quality live and offline content creation.

ImmersiaTV aims at developing a novel, distributed, video capture and processing architecture that is ground up designed to deal with very high resolutions needed for professional omnidirectional video capture, without the high cost of such systems today, exploiting trends in camera and computing technology developments. The architecture will make multiple 360º rigs and additional conventional cameras behave as a single system instead of a collection of independent cameras. It will be designed ground up for live application integrated in a broadcast environment, will be IP broadcast ready and suits the need for high end VR content creation at the same time.

Finding the perfect location for the 360 rigs is complex and it requires additional efforts to make sure that the scene looks natural.
